The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is set to hold simultaneous job fairs across the country as part of the 128th Independence Day celebration, offering more than 95,000 employment opportunities. In a statement, DOLE announced that a total of 95,240 job vacancies will be available from 1,181 local and overseas employers across 55 job fair venues.
Addressing Unemployment
"The initiative aims to help unemployed and underemployed individuals find immediate employment and income opportunities," DOLE said. The department noted that the number of participating employers and available jobs is expected to increase in the coming days, giving applicants more options.
Top Sectors and In-Demand Jobs
The top job vacancies are in retail, manufacturing, construction, business process outsourcing, and accommodation and food service. In-demand positions include sales clerks, production operators, construction workers, call center representatives, and service crew.
Positive Labor Market Trends
The Independence Day job fairs aim to build on the momentum from the April 2026 Labor Force Survey (LFS), which showed a decline in unemployment. Labor Secretary Francis Tolentino welcomed the results, noting that the unemployment rate dropped for the fourth consecutive month in 2026, from 5.8 percent in January to 4.7 percent in April.
"We welcome that the unemployment rate declined for the fourth consecutive month in 2026," Tolentino said. He attributed the improvement to DOLE's intensified employment facilitation activities, including job fairs.
The April 2026 LFS recorded an unemployment rate of 4.7 percent, lower than the 5 percent in March 2026.
