Kenneth Llover Loses IBF Eliminator; Weight Issues Cited

Philippine rising boxing star Kenneth Llover suffered a split decision defeat against American Michael Angeletti in their International Boxing Federation (IBF) bantamweight title eliminator bout on Saturday night, June 6, 2026, in Japan.

At the official weigh-in, Llover exceeded the 118-pound bantamweight limit by 300 grams. After 30 minutes, he was still 200 grams over. On his third attempt, he finally made weight, but the struggle signaled that moving up in weight class may be necessary.

Llover's manager, former world champion Gerry Penalosa, stated that the team is considering moving Llover up to the 122-pound super bantamweight division.
