Victor Wembanyama, the 7-foot-4 center for the San Antonio Spurs, scored 32 points to lead his team to a 115-111 victory over the host New York Knicks in Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 (Philippine time) at Madison Square Garden.
The win cut the Knicks' lead in the best-of-seven series to 2-1 and ended New York's 13-game winning streak dating back to the start of the 2025-26 playoffs.
"We've done what we were supposed to do but the job is absolutely not done. We're not even halfway. The hardest is yet to come," said the 22-year-old Wembanyama.
In this game, the French superstar rebounded from his costly turnover in the final seconds that contributed to the Spurs' loss in Game 2.
"Less mistakes, more control. It's the little things. We were more serious. Less mistakes. Less turnovers," Wembanyama added.
The Spurs scored the first seven points of the game, sparked by two baskets from Wembanyama. By the end of the first quarter, San Antonio led 33-21.
The Knicks gradually chipped away at the deficit and took their first lead at 50-49 on a three-point shot by Jalen Brunson with 4:18 left in the second quarter. The game remained tight from there, with the Spurs prevailing in the final seconds.
Stephon Castle added 23 points for San Antonio, including two crucial free throws down the stretch. Fil-Am guard Dylan Harper contributed 13 points, DeAaron Fox and Julian Champagnie each scored 12, and Devin Vassell added 11.
The Knicks were led by Brunson with 32 points, while OG Anunoby added 28, Josh Hart scored 16, Karl-Anthony Towns contributed 11, and Fil-Am Jordan Clarkson chipped in 10.
