A total of 1,702 members of the Aeta community from Barangays Mawacat and Nabuclod in Floridablanca, as well as residents in Barangay Camachiles in Mabalacat City, received assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and Pampanga Provincial Government over the weekend.
Distribution Event Led by Local Officials
The event was led by Board Members Claire Lim and Sajid Eusoof, along with Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) Officer Fe Manarang and personnel from the Pampanga General Services Office (GSO). The collaborative effort aimed to provide immediate relief and support to indigenous communities in the province.
Beneficiaries Receive Essential Supplies
Each beneficiary received 25 kilos of rice, cash assistance, and DSWD food packs under the agency’s Food for Work Program. The program is designed to offer short-term employment and food security to vulnerable groups, enabling them to meet their basic needs while contributing to community projects.
Governor Lilia Pineda emphasized that the initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to provide livelihood assistance to indigenous communities in Pampanga. She highlighted the importance of ensuring that the Aeta community, which has historically faced economic challenges, receives adequate support for their well-being and development.
The distribution is expected to alleviate immediate hardships and promote sustainable livelihoods among the beneficiaries. Local authorities have pledged to continue monitoring the needs of indigenous groups and to implement further programs that foster economic empowerment and social inclusion.
