The Davao City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) has confirmed that qualified Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the city will receive their annual cash subsidy of P1,500 this month. Julie Dayaday, head of the CSWDO, announced that the distribution will begin on July 17, 2026, aligning with National Disability Rights Week.
Distribution Process and Schedule
Dayaday explained that the distribution process mirrors that of the senior citizens' financial assistance. The CSWDO, in coordination with the City Treasurer's Office, will conduct the payout in each barangay simultaneously rather than in waves. The schedule will be posted on the CSWDO's official social media account. During the launch on July 17, only a few barangays will be covered initially, with others following according to schedule.
Qualification Requirements
To qualify for the subsidy, PWDs must hold a valid PWD identification card issued by the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) and be registered voters of Davao City. The ordinance granting this annual assistance was approved by the 21st Davao City Council.
PWD Population Data
According to the PDAO, as of September 23, 2025, there were approximately 37,612 PWDs in Davao City with valid PWD IDs, a significant increase from the 22,000 registered in 2024. The top three disability types are physical or orthopedic disabilities (around 10,000), intellectual disabilities (about 4,000), and cancer (estimated 3,000).
Encouragement for Coordination
Dayaday encouraged PWDs to coordinate with the CSWDO and the PDAO for further announcements regarding the distribution schedule in their respective barangays.
