The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) of Davao del Sur has released more than ₱16.9 million in assistance to thousands of residents during the first quarter of 2026, reinforcing the province's commitment to responsive and compassionate public service.

Breakdown of Assistance

From January to March 2026, the Crisis Intervention Unit (CIU) of the PSWDO spent a total of ₱16,904,080.95 to serve 3,590 clients across one city and nine municipalities. The largest portion of the aid went to hospital-related needs, with ₱10.79 million allocated to 2,019 clients for hospital bill assistance.

Other significant forms of assistance included:

  • Burial assistance: ₱2.71 million for 516 beneficiaries
  • Dialysis assistance: ₱822,000 for 327 patients
  • Medicine assistance: ₱596,500 for 293 clients
  • Medical procedure assistance: ₱1.06 million for 221 individuals (covering chemotherapy, CT scans, laboratory work, operations, and therapy)
  • Transportation groups and solo parents: ₱255,000 for 85 clients
  • Fire victims: ₱315,000 for 32 clients
  • Special or other cases: ₱338,000 for 94 clients
  • Disaster assistance: ₱9,000 for three beneficiaries

Geographic Distribution

The aid was distributed across the province's local government units (LGUs), with Digos City receiving the highest share: 1,245 clients benefited from ₱5.89 million. Other municipalities included:

  • Bansalan: 573 clients (₱2.61 million)
  • Matanao: 390 clients (₱1.83 million)
  • Hagonoy: 371 clients (₱1.77 million)
  • Magsaysay: 358 clients (₱1.73 million)
  • Sta. Cruz: 258 clients (₱1.19 million)
  • Sulop: 115 clients (₱552,589)
  • Padada: 106 clients (₱456,058)
  • Malalag: 91 clients (₱480,582)
  • Kiblawan: 83 clients (₱388,034)

Focus on Health Interventions

The data highlights the province's emphasis on health-related aid, which accounted for the largest share of assistance. Provincial officials noted that the initiative reflects a targeted approach to addressing urgent medical, financial, and social needs among residents.

Governor Yvonne Cagas led the provincial government in ensuring that even the most vulnerable sectors receive timely support. The PSWDO stated, "Davao del Sur continues to shine as a 'Maanyag nga Paraiso' where compassionate service and responsive governance uplift the lives of every Davsuranon."

With sustained funding and coordinated efforts through the PSWDO, the province aims to further strengthen its social protection programs in the coming months, expanding reach and deepening impact across its communities.
