The Provincial Government of Pampanga, led by Governor Lilia "Nanay" Pineda and Vice Governor Dennis "Delta" Pineda, is advancing its food security initiative through a new agricultural project.

Development of the Food Security Project

The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) is currently developing a 6.59-hectare Food Security Project located at the GMA Kabukiran Parcel within the Clark International Airport Corporation aviation complex. More than two hectares of the land are already under cultivation.

Current crops include eggplant, peanuts, sponge gourd, bottle gourd, okra, string beans, chili peppers, squash, tomatoes, cassava, bananas, papayas, and tamarind. This diverse range of produce is expected to boost local food production and strengthen food security in the province.

Infrastructure and Expansion

Land clearing and site preparation have been completed, and regular crop maintenance and irrigation are ongoing to ensure healthy plant growth, according to the provincial government. The installation of electricity and water supply is also underway to expand the cultivated area and increase agricultural output.

The project underscores the provincial government's commitment to sustainable agriculture and food self-sufficiency, aiming to provide a stable supply of fresh produce for local communities.
