WWII bombs found at NAIA complex, authorities say inert

Philippine authorities have uncovered a cache of suspected World War II-era bombs inside the taxiway area of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City, the Philippine National Police (PNP) confirmed.

Discovery and Recovery

According to the PNP, the bombs were found on April 26 after a report of possible explosives unearthed in the area. During initial operations, the Aviation Security Group (Avsecu) Explosives Ordnance Disposal and K9 Unit recovered six 50-pound general-purpose bombs. A subsequent larger clearing operation yielded an additional four 50-pound bombs and eighteen 25-pound bombs, bringing the total to 28 pieces of ordnance.

Safety Confirmation

Authorities clarified that all recovered materials are inert, meaning they no longer possess active explosive capability and therefore pose no danger. The items were transported to the Avsecu Headquarters for documentation and proper disposal.
