Digital Partnership for 2026 ASEAN Summit and AI Growth

In a significant move to bolster digital inclusion and artificial intelligence-driven growth, the Private Sector Advisory Council–Digital Infrastructure (PSAC-DI), ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC), and GoDigital Philippines have officially sealed a strategic partnership. This collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed on March 5, 2026, is set to accelerate digital transformation, enhance regional cooperation, and support the Philippines' preparations as the host of the 2026 ASEAN Summit.

Key Objectives of the Partnership

The agreement establishes a comprehensive cooperative framework focused on policy dialogue, stakeholder consultations, and joint programs. These initiatives will target digital infrastructure development, artificial intelligence adoption, and fostering inclusion across Southeast Asia. Running through December 2026, the partnership aims to align private sector efforts with ASEAN-BAC priorities and the Philippine government's agenda, including support for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), emerging technologies, and regional digital-economy integration.

Leadership and Signatories

The MOA signing was led by prominent figures in the digital and business sectors: PSAC-DI Sector Lead Myla Villanueva, ASEAN-BAC Philippines Chair Jose Ma. Concepcion III, and GoDigital Philippines Chair Atty. Mark S. Gorriceta. Representatives from various partner organizations were also present at the event, underscoring the broad support for this initiative.

Myla Villanueva, PSAC Lead for Digital Infrastructure, emphasized the partnership's significance, stating, "This partnership underscores the private sector's readiness to support the Philippines' role as ASEAN host and to help shape a more inclusive, innovative, and secure digital future for the region. Through collaboration with ASEAN-BAC and GoDigital Philippines, we aim to ensure that digital transformation translates into real opportunities for Filipino businesses and communities."

Collaborative Activities and Focus Areas

Under the partnership, PSAC will work closely with ASEAN-BAC and GoDigital Philippines to facilitate policy dialogue and stakeholder engagements. This includes active participation in ASEAN-level consultations and working groups. Key focus areas include:

  • Supporting MSME development through consultations, knowledge-sharing, and capacity-building initiatives.
  • Contributing jointly to regional programs and priority workstreams on digital transformation and innovation.
  • Preparing policy inputs, identifying speakers, and mobilizing industry sponsorships for events related to the 2026 ASEAN Summit.

Strategic Impact and Future Goals

This initiative reflects PSAC's ongoing role in strengthening public-private collaboration to accelerate the country's digital transformation. By aligning industry expertise with national priorities, the partnership aims to position the Philippines as a leader in advancing a secure, innovative, and inclusive digital economy in Southeast Asia. The collaboration is expected to drive tangible benefits, such as enhanced digital infrastructure, increased AI adoption, and greater economic opportunities for local communities, all in preparation for the pivotal 2026 ASEAN Summit.
