Days after LeBron James informed the Los Angeles Lakers that he would be moving to another team for the upcoming NBA season, his next destination remains unclear.
27 Teams Interested in LeBron James
According to Rich Paul, the agent of the 41-year-old superstar, 27 teams have expressed interest in acquiring the four-time MVP. Paul told ESPN that he has spoken with all of them.
Paul explained that the decision is not easy, especially for James, as many points need to be considered.
Philadelphia 76ers Emerge as Top Contender
Earlier, only 10 teams were mentioned as possible destinations: Philadelphia 76ers, Cleveland Cavaliers, Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves, Miami Heat, New York Knicks, Golden State Warriors, Dallas Mavericks, Boston Celtics, and San Antonio Spurs.
In a recent interview, Paul first discussed the 76ers, who could become the top contender for James after acquiring Jaylen Brown from the Boston Celtics via trade.
“Philadelphia, everything changed. How could you not have his attention when you have [Tyrese] Maxey, [VJ] Edgecombe, Brown and [Joel] Embiid?” Paul said. “He (James) loves Maxey, so we don’t even have to talk about that. I think VJ, he helps VJ understand really how to play the game. Obviously, Jaylen Brown. Embiid is health and habits. The health and habits of Embiid are there. James enhances everything there. He unlocks everything there.”
Paul also noted that the 76ers have an advantage because several front office personnel are close to James.
Decision Up to LeBron James
Paul clarified that only James himself can make the final decision on this matter. “LeBron’s always judged different,” Paul said.
