Jollibee Group Launches Pioneering Multi-Brand Commissary in Danao, Cebu
In a significant move for the Philippine food industry, Jollibee Group executives and government officials gathered in Danao, Cebu, to inaugurate the company's first state-of-the-art, multi-brand commissary in the country. The event, held on January 8, 2026, marks a milestone in the Group's expansion strategy, with the facility positioned as the largest commissary in the Visayas and Mindanao regions.
Strategic Facility for a Thriving Economic Region
The Danao commissary represents the fourth and most extensive Jollibee Group facility in Cebu, designed to capitalize on the accelerating economic momentum in Visayas and Mindanao. This growth is fueled by a robust tourism recovery, the expansion of BPO hubs, increasing agribusiness exports, and burgeoning manufacturing clusters, all of which are driving employment and consumer demand across the area.
Equipped with advanced automation and integrated systems, the commissary aims to meet rising demand from multiple Jollibee Group brands while enhancing operational efficiencies through consolidated equipment and production capabilities. This approach allows the Group to scale responsibly while maintaining high standards for food quality, consistency, and excellence.
Boosting Brand Expansion and Supply Chain Resilience
The facility supplies essential ingredients and products for major brands such as Jollibee, Chowking, Mang Inasal, Greenwich, Red Ribbon, and Burger King. These brands are actively expanding their store networks in Visayas and Mindanao while sustaining same-store sales growth.
By supporting distribution centers in key locations including Cebu, Iloilo, Bacolod, Zamboanga, Cagayan de Oro, and Davao, as well as select areas in Luzon, the commissary strengthens the Group's supply chain. This ensures reliability and scalability as the company accelerates its nationwide expansion efforts.
Economic and Community Impact
During the inauguration, Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Cristina Roque emphasized the broader economic benefits of the investment. "Every new commissary that the Jollibee Group opens represents more jobs, more security, and more growth for our local industries," Roque stated. "As we open more commissaries, we are also encouraging more investments in our country while strengthening our supply chain."
Joseph Tanbuntiong, CEO of Jollibee Group Philippines and Head of Jollibee Brand Global, highlighted the strategic importance of the facility. "The opening of the Danao Commissary is both a reflection of our journey and a new beginning," Tanbuntiong said. "Accelerating our growth by building on the strong momentum in Visayas and Mindanao is critical to our Philippine business and foundational to our global aspirations."
The investment underscores Jollibee Group's confidence in Cebu as a strategic hub for manufacturing and logistics. "This commissary underscores our confidence in Cebu—its people, its capability, and its role in our growth today and in the long term," he added.
Sustainability and Job Creation
Beyond operational enhancements, the Danao Commissary is set to deliver shared value for local communities, generating close to 500 jobs initially, with over 60 percent of the workforce sourced from Danao City. At full capacity, the facility is expected to create a total of 800 jobs.
Sustainability features are integral to the commissary's design and operations, aligning with the Jollibee Group's Joy for Tomorrow agenda. From its first day of commercial operation, the facility operates on 99 percent renewable electricity from geothermal sources. Additional eco-friendly elements include:
- Roof-mounted solar panels
- Rainwater-harvesting systems
- Energy-efficient equipment
- Wastewater treatment systems
These initiatives support responsible, future-ready growth and environmental stewardship.
Tanbuntiong concluded by noting the collaborative nature of the project. "The success of the Danao Commissary is a shared success—for Danao, for Cebu, and for the nation. Together, we are building a stronger, more inclusive, and more sustainable future."
