Cebuano Social Entrepreneur Carlo Delantar Joins World Economic Forum Young Global Leaders Class of 2026
Carlo Delantar, a young social entrepreneur hailing from Cebu, has been chosen as the Philippines' exclusive representative for the World Economic Forum Young Global Leaders (YGL) Class of 2026. He becomes part of a distinguished cohort comprising 118 emerging leaders from 55 nations worldwide.
A Recognition Amid Global Challenges
In a recent Facebook post, Delantar highlighted that this new YGL class was announced during a period when global leadership faces significant tests due to rapid technological advancements, economic instability, and evolving expectations from institutions. The program specifically praised the cohort for their unique ability to merge innovation with a strong public purpose, showcasing a new generation of leaders who are fundamentally reshaping how impact is achieved across various sectors.
Prestigious Alumni and Filipino Connections
Since its establishment in 2004, the YGL community has cultivated numerous influential figures in politics, business, and civil society. Notable alumni include former New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, Nobel laureate Esther Duflo, environmental activist Lewis Pugh, and French President Emmanuel Macron.
Filipino alumni of the program are equally impressive, featuring individuals such as Senator Bam Aquino, broadcast journalist Karen Davila, agricultural advocate Cherrie Atilano, tech entrepreneur Paul Rivera, and conservationist Ann Dumaliang.
Delantar's Decade of Impactful Work
Delantar pointed to over ten years of dedicated efforts in humanitarian and investment initiatives as key to his selection. His work includes expanding access to clean water for more than two million Filipinos through Waves For Water Philippines and supporting startup development across 17 Asian markets via Gobi Partners.

He emphasized that this recognition reinforces his commitment to building robust institutions and advancing solutions to complex governance challenges. Delantar noted that many of today's most urgent issues demand sustained discipline and collaborative efforts over the long term.
