Cebu Bus Terminal Asphalt Repairs Near 50% Completion

Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro conducted a thorough inspection of the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) on Friday, March 20, 2026, to personally oversee the ongoing asphalt repair works within the facility. This visit underscores the provincial government's commitment to improving transportation infrastructure ahead of the busy Holy Week travel period.

Project Progress and Timeline

Terminal Administrator Ahmed Cuizon announced on the same day that the asphalt repairs have reached an impressive 49.12 percent completion rate. Following this phase, drainage works will be finalized to ensure comprehensive facility upgrades.

Cuizon expressed optimism that the entire project will be completed before the onset of Semana Santa (Holy Week), promising smoother bus operations and enhanced travel experiences for commuters. "We initially had vans loading and unloading at Taboan, with a temporary one-slot arrangement for four routes. Now, they have returned to their full four slots as the repairs progress," Cuizon explained, highlighting the restoration of normal terminal operations.

Project Details and Challenges

The asphalt and drainage works, managed by Ten Twenty Allied Developers, are part of a P12 million infrastructure project approved to address long-standing issues at the terminal. This initiative includes extensive groundworks covering over 3,000 square meters to improve the terminal's durability and functionality.

Management previously noted delays in implementation due to consecutive unfavorable weather conditions, which hampered construction schedules. However, recent efforts have accelerated progress, bringing the project closer to its deadline.

Governor Baricuatro's inspection not only emphasized the importance of this project but also reinforced the government's proactive approach to infrastructure maintenance. Her presence at the site signals a hands-on leadership style focused on ensuring public facilities meet safety and efficiency standards.

With the return of van-for-hire (V-Hire) services to their designated slots, the terminal is gradually resuming full operations, benefiting both transport operators and passengers. The completion of this project is expected to significantly reduce travel disruptions and enhance the overall commuting environment in Cebu.
