MPIW Implements Temporary Road Restoration in Jaro During Major Pipeline Project

In Brgy. Benedicto, Jaro, Iloilo City, the Metro Pacific Iloilo Water (MPIW) is actively conducting temporary road restoration as part of the ongoing HS Jaro Pipe Replacement Project. This initiative aims to ensure safer and smoother roads for commuters while construction continues on new water pipelines along key routes, including Lopez Jaena Street and the Old Iloilo–Capiz Road, stretching from Ungka Terminal to Plaza Jaro.

Project Details and Timeline

The HS Jaro Pipe Replacement Project involves excavating sections of the road to lay new pipelines, which are then temporarily restored to maintain public accessibility. According to MPIW, permanent road restoration, adhering to Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) standards, is scheduled to commence by the end of June 2026. This work will proceed in segments, with each section undergoing permanent restoration only after it passes hydrotesting—a critical quality check that verifies the pipes are sealed, structurally sound, and ready for service.

Significance of the Infrastructure Project

This project is one of MPIW's most significant infrastructure undertakings in the Jaro district, targeting the replacement of aging pipelines that have led to high water losses. Upon completion, it is expected to reduce Non-Revenue Water in the Jaro District from approximately 70% to 20%, recovering around 10 million liters per day. This volume is sufficient to supply at least 5,000 additional households in Jaro and the nearby Mandurriao district.
