In a vibrant display of environmental stewardship, employees from the local government unit of Toledo City enthusiastically joined the Green Valentine 2026 initiative by planting 1,000 seedlings in diverse areas across the city on February 27, 2026. This activity underscores a growing commitment to ecological preservation and community engagement in the region.

Early Morning Kickoff for a Greener Future

Volunteers gathered as early as 6:00 AM to commence the "Green Valentine: A Tree Planting and Eco Tour Activity." They were strategically deployed to multiple key locations, including the riverbanks of Ilihan, Sangi New Terminal, and Sangi Bridge, where they planted trees as part of a broader campaign to protect and nurture the natural environment.

Educational Eco-Tour Enhances Awareness

Following the tree-planting efforts, participants proceeded to Ibo Mangrove Park for an insightful eco-tour. This segment of the event deepened their understanding of the critical role mangrove forests play in coastal protection and flood prevention, highlighting the interconnectedness of ecosystems and human well-being.

Collaborative Efforts for Environmental Advocacy

The event was organized by DYAR Cebu 765 SMNI Radio in partnership with the City of Toledo, Province of Cebu, and the Cebu People’s Action Center, under the theme "Love the Earth, Love the Future." This initiative aims to enhance community knowledge about environmental issues and inspire active participation through tangible actions.

Through Green Valentine 2026, local government employees demonstrated that expressing love during this season extends beyond personal relationships to include caring for nature. Organizers emphasized that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility crucial for both current and future generations, fostering a legacy of sustainability and ecological consciousness.
