P17.1M drugs seized, suspect arrested in Sulu buy-bust

Lawmen arrested an individual and seized approximately P17.1 million worth of illegal drugs during a law enforcement operation in Sulu province, police reported on Thursday, July 2, 2026.

Suspect Identified and Arrested

Police Lieutenant Colonel Kris Conrad Gutierrez, officer-in-charge of the Jolo Municipal Police Station, identified the suspect as alias Mike, 28, a college graduate. Mike was arrested in a buy-bust operation around 1:50 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, in Zone 3, Tulay village, Jolo, the capital town of Sulu.

Seized Drugs and Evidence

Confiscated from Mike were three kilograms of cocaine valued at approximately P15.9 million and 200 grams of shabu worth P1.2 million, totaling P17.1 million. Authorities also seized P13,000 believed to be proceeds from the suspect's illegal drug trade, along with other pieces of evidence.

Charges and Operation Details

Gutierrez stated that the suspect was detained pending the filing of charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. The anti-drug operation was conducted by personnel of the Jolo Municipal Police Station with support from operatives of the Sulu Provincial Police Office and the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company.
