The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) has intensified its response efforts in Albay after ashfall from Mayon Volcano affected 52 barangays in Guinobatan, Camalig, and Ligao City. According to the OCD, ongoing operations include road clearing, distribution of face masks and water, and coordination with various agencies while the volcano remains under Alert Level 3. Entry into the 6-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone is strictly prohibited.
Multi-Agency Clearing Operations
The Bureau of Fire Protection, Department of Public Works and Highways, and Philippine National Police have assisted in clearing operations to promptly clean major roads and ensure the safety of motorists. Authorities have also warned against entering the danger zone and flying aircraft near the volcano.
PHIVOLCS Warning
Meanwhile, PHIVOLCS reiterated the threat of rockfalls, lava flow, pyroclastic density currents (uson), explosions, and lahar from the volcano, especially during heavy rainfall. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and follow official advisories.
