A woman in a mini skirt caused a traffic disturbance on B. Rodriguez Street in Cebu City when she lay down and appeared to sleep in the middle of the road on the morning of Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
Incident Details
Personnel from the Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) were the first to respond to the area after the incident caused a traffic jam. The taxi driver who had been transporting the woman told reporters that she had boarded his vehicle from a bar in Barangay Kasambagan. The driver noticed that the passenger was crying incessantly, prompting him to ask what her problem was, hoping he could offer advice.
“She had been drinking and was crying continuously. I asked her: ‘What’s your problem? Love life? Financial?’ Maybe I could help,” the driver said. However, the woman wanted to get out of the taxi, saying she would jump off. She confessed that she had a large debt at a casino amounting to P63,000, and if she couldn't pay, she was threatened with imprisonment by the creditor. She added that her family and relatives did not care about her, leading her to contemplate suicide because she felt her life was worthless.
The woman got out on B. Rodriguez Street and attempted to climb over the railing to jump, but the driver restrained her and tried to calm her down. She did not listen and resisted.
Police Assistance
The driver requested police assistance, leaving the woman momentarily. When he returned, he was surprised to find her lying in the middle of the road, asleep. Beside her were her shoulder bag and a pair of high heels.
