Father Demands Justice for Son's Death in Cebu City Road Collision
Isidrolito Salvador has made a heartfelt appeal for swift justice following the tragic death of his 22-year-old son, Charle Magne Salobre, in a road collision in Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City. The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, February 16, 2026, and Salvador is urging authorities to take immediate action on the case.
Details of the Tragic Incident
Salobre had just finished his shift as a crew member at a fast-food chain in Mambaling around 3 a.m. Before heading home, he dropped off his girlfriend, who was also his coworker. Moments later, near the Mambaling overpass on N. Bacalso Street, a Toyota sedan allegedly made a sudden U-turn on a solid line, resulting in a collision with Salobre's motorcycle.
Salvador revealed that the driver of the sedan was unlicensed and reportedly intoxicated at the time of the incident. Salobre was rushed to the hospital and admitted to the ward, but he succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
Frustration with the Investigation
As of February 19, Salvador expressed deep frustration over the lack of significant progress in the investigation. He compared the slow pace to a recent high-profile hit-and-run case in Barangay Banilad involving businessman Kingston Ralph Ko Cheng, where authorities acted more swiftly.
"I feel the justice system is unfair," Salvador stated, highlighting that while action was prompt in the other case, no similar measures have been taken for his son's death. He also alleged that the driver involved in the Mambaling collision was not detained and was allowed to go home, with the vehicle not impounded. Additionally, the family has received no financial assistance from the driver.
Calls for Accountability and Evidence
To strengthen their case, Salvador has requested assistance from the Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) in obtaining necessary documents to access CCTV footage from nearby establishments. He believes this evidence could clarify the circumstances of the collision.
Salvador urged relevant agencies to ensure accountability and the fair enforcement of the law, emphasizing his sole desire for justice. "I just want justice for my son," he concluded, underscoring the family's grief and determination to see the case resolved.
