Filipino Love Life Satisfaction Plummets to Historic Low in 2026 Survey
A recent nationwide survey conducted by Social Weather Stations (SWS) has uncovered a concerning trend in the romantic lives of adult Filipinos. According to the findings, only 46 percent of respondents reported being very happy with their love life, marking the lowest level recorded since the question was first introduced in a 2004 survey. This figure remains unchanged from 2024, highlighting a persistent decline in relationship satisfaction over more than two decades.
Growing Dissatisfaction and Shifting Demographics
Simultaneously, the proportion of Filipinos who expressed that their love life could be happier has risen significantly. This group now stands at 40 percent, up by four points from 36 percent in the previous year. In contrast, those reporting no love life at all decreased to 14 percent, down from 18 percent in 2024, suggesting that while more people are in relationships, overall happiness is waning.
Gender-Based Insights into Love Life Happiness
The survey delved deeper into the data by examining happiness levels based on gender and marital status. Among women, married respondents emerged as the happiest, with 57 percent reporting high satisfaction. Women with live-in partners followed at 45 percent, while those without a spouse or partner reported only 22 percent. Compared to the last survey, happiness saw a slight increase for married women but declined for women with live-in partners and those without a partner.
For men, a similar pattern was observed. Married men generally felt the happiest at 55 percent, with men in live-in partnerships at 50 percent, and men without a partner at 28 percent. Notably, happiness among men without a partner surged by nine points since 2024. However, it remained nearly unchanged for those with live-in partners and dropped by six points for married men, indicating shifting dynamics in male relationship satisfaction.
Survey Methodology and National Representation
The SWS survey involved face-to-face interviews with 1,200 adults aged 18 and above across the Philippines. To ensure comprehensive national representation, the sample included 300 respondents each from Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao. This robust methodology underscores the reliability of the data, reflecting broader social trends in Filipino love life happiness.
