Fisherman survives stabbing by friend in Bogo City

A 36-year-old fisherman is now out of danger after being stabbed by his friend and fellow fisherman in Purok Gardenia, Barangay Gairan, Bogo City, on Tuesday afternoon, June 16. The Bogo City Police Station identified the victim as Sunny Boy Ngoho Manatad, single, while the suspect is Jameson Relampagos Jaron, 41, married, both residents of Purok Lily Bombil in the same barangay.

According to police investigation, the incident occurred at around 3:40 p.m. when the suspect went to his sibling's house. After a while, the victim arrived and approached the suspect to tell him they would go fishing later.

After a brief conversation, the victim turned to go home, but the suspect suddenly tapped him on the shoulder and, without warning, stabbed him. The victim was hit in the left side of the chest, and the knife remained embedded.

The suspect attempted to stab the victim again, but Manatad quickly blocked it, sustaining a wound on his hand. The victim was saved from certain death after neighbors helped him and brought him to the hospital.

Jaron was immediately arrested after the crime. The suspect is set to face charges of frustrated murder, while police continue to investigate the motive behind the stabbing.
