The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, urged the public to prepare and coordinate with their respective local government units (LGUs) as Super Typhoon Bavi, locally named Inday, is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
DSWD Reminds Public to Follow Evacuation Orders
In a radio interview, DSWD Disaster Response Management Group (DRMG) Head Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao said the agency continues to remind the public, especially those along the typhoon's path, to heed LGU announcements, particularly on urgent evacuation.
“These reminders are being made for preemptive evacuation to ensure your safety and protection,” Dumlao, who also serves as DSWD spokesperson, said.
DSWD Assures Readiness of Relief Supplies
Dumlao assured residents in affected areas that DSWD regional offices are ready to provide assistance, including family food packs (FFPs), ready-to-eat food (RTEF), and non-food items for evacuated families in evacuation centers.
“Let us cooperate with our local government. Go to the designated evacuation centers. You do not need to worry about food or supplies because we at DSWD are ready to provide support. Our disaster relief items are pre-positioned and ready to be distributed to you,” Dumlao said.
Pre-Positioned Relief Items
The DSWD has prepared over 4.7 million boxes of FFPs in warehouses nationwide, along with more than 360,000 packs of RTEF in regional warehouses and major ports.
