A farmer who had been frequently complained about by his neighbor for carrying a firearm was arrested by members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Mandaue City Field Unit based on a search warrant early Friday morning, May 15, 2026, in Purok 4, Barangay Cambinocot, a mountainous area in Cebu City.
The subject of the search warrant, issued by Judge Anacleto Debalucos, Executive Judge of RTC Branch 17 in Cebu City, was Jeremias Montes Estores Sr., 57, a resident of the same area. Seized from him was a .45 caliber firearm with five bullets.
The CIDG received complaints from local residents regarding Estores carrying an unlicensed firearm. They placed him under surveillance and, after confirming the complaints, applied for a search warrant from the court on May 12, 2026.
The suspect is now in the custody of the CIDG, and charges are being prepared against him for violation of Section 3 in relation to Section 28 of Republic Act 10591.
