A 69-year-old widower, who had been evading authorities for a long time, was finally arrested by law enforcement in Eastern Poblacion, Poro, Camotes Island, on Tuesday morning, June 16, 2026.
Suspect Identified
The arrested individual was identified as alias “Al,” a resident of Barangay West Poblacion in the said municipality. Alias Al was considered the Top 1 Most Wanted Person at the provincial and municipal levels, and Top 3 at the regional level, due to a pending rape case.
Arrest Operation
The suspect was captured through a joint operation by the Poro Municipal Police Station, Regional Intelligence Division (RID) 7, and Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU). He had a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Dinah Jane Gaceta-Portugal, Presiding Judge of RTC 7 Branch 92 in Danao City, on January 27, 2026, with no bail recommended.
According to the police, after alias Al learned that a case had been filed against him, he hid in the forests and mountains of Poro. Due to his long stay in the mountains, he became very familiar with escape routes and could easily move from one place to another whenever someone searched for him.
When he came down to the town to buy supplies and rice, an asset spotted him and immediately reported to the police, leading to his cornering in Eastern Poblacion.
The Cebu police continue to intensify their intelligence-driven operations and urge the public to cooperate by reporting the whereabouts of wanted persons.
