A 77-year-old man was found dead at around 7:00 AM on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, in the mountainous area of Barangay Cansayahon, Ronda town. The victim was identified as Gregorio Campaner, a farmer and resident of the area.
Missing Since April 25
Campaner was first reported missing on April 25 before neighbors who were clearing the area found him lying in the grass. According to Campaner's family, he had dementia, which often caused him to lose his way home.
Before he disappeared, the victim told his family he would gather guava wood to make a handle for his bolo, but he never returned.
No Signs of Foul Play
Initial police investigation suggests that the victim died of natural causes, and authorities found no signs of foul play.
Wife in Accident
While the family mourns, a tragic development added to their grief: Campaner's wife is currently in critical condition at a hospital. She was reportedly involved in a motorcycle accident after hitting a dog while searching for her husband in the past days.
