In a significant blow to illegal drug activities in Basilan province, law enforcement authorities successfully apprehended two suspects during a targeted anti-drug operation in Lamitan City.
The operation, conducted by elements of the Lamitan City Police Station, resulted in the arrest of Alnajar J. Muktadil, 36, and Alnajir A. Muktadil, 32, both residents of Barangay Sabong.
Strategic Buy-Bust Operation
Police Lieutenant Colonel Jonald P. Tria, Chief of Police of Lamitan City Police Station, disclosed that the operation was meticulously planned after weeks of surveillance and intelligence gathering. The suspects were known to local authorities for their alleged involvement in drug distribution activities within the community.
Contraband Seized
During the operation, law enforcement agents confiscated substantial evidence including:
- Two heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu
- Various drug paraphernalia
- The marked money used in the transaction
The seized substances have an estimated street value of several thousand pesos, though official valuation is pending laboratory analysis.
Legal Proceedings Underway
Both suspects are currently detained at the Lamitan City Police Station detention facility while awaiting the filing of appropriate charges. The Philippine National Police is preparing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
