Zamboanga City Limits Pyrotechnic Sales to 3 Authorized Retailers
Zamboanga City: Only 3 Authorized Fireworks Retailers

In a move to regulate the sale of fireworks and ensure public safety, the Zamboanga City government has strictly limited the number of authorized retailers for commercial pyrotechnic devices this holiday season.

Only Three Retailers Granted Special Permits

The Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO) announced that only three retailers have been granted special permits to sell commercial pyrotechnics in Zamboanga City. The authorization covers the period from December 23, 2025, to January 6, 2026.

BPLO head Benjie Barredo identified the three authorized establishments and their locations on Tuesday, December 30, 2025:

  • Franz Fireworks' Fireworks Retailing in Boalan village
  • Julie's Fireworks Retailing in Divisoria village
  • CA Firework Fireworks Retailing in Pasobolong village

These retailers have fully complied with the requirements of City Ordinance 632 and Republic Act 7183, the national law regulating the sale, manufacture, distribution, and use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices.

Crackdown on Illegal Vendors Downtown

Meanwhile, the City Government's Task Force Ordinance has taken action against unauthorized sales. Authorities have apprehended several vendors found illegally selling consumer pyrotechnics in the downtown area without the required permits and clearances.

Barredo confirmed that the seized items, consisting of assorted consumer pyrotechnics, are now under the custody of authorities for documentation, consolidation, safekeeping, and appropriate disposition.

Emphasis on Safety and Legal Compliance

Ordinance 632 explicitly states that only duly authorized, licensed individuals, business establishments, and permit holders are allowed to sell and distribute consumer pyrotechnics. Furthermore, sales are only permitted inside establishments operating with registered business permits.

The local ordinance regulates all forms of firecrackers in line with RA 7183, allowing for the limited use, sale, possession, distribution, and storage of consumer pyrotechnics in the city.

With safety as a top priority, local authorities are strongly encouraging residents to use safe, alternative noise-making devices during the New Year's Eve revelry. This initiative aims to minimize the risk of injuries and property damage commonly associated with the use of pyrotechnic devices or fireworks.
