Kidnapping Charges Filed Against 11 Suspects in Cebu City
The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) has filed kidnapping charges against 11 individuals involved in the abduction of two men from a parking lot in Barangay Banilad, Cebu City, on May 11, 2026, at approximately 2:30 a.m.
Police Colonel George Ylanan, chief of the CCPO, confirmed that of the 11 suspects charged in court, six have been identified while the remaining five are listed as John Does. The suspects were occupants of a white van and a Toyota Vios captured on CCTV footage.
Mastermind Identified
The mastermind behind the crime has also been identified but remains unnamed by authorities. According to CCPO, the mastermind hired the 11 individuals to abduct the two victims, identified only by their aliases, Glen and Jake.
The CCTV footage of the kidnapping went viral on social media, prompting a swift investigation by the Mabolo Police Station.
Financial Dispute Leads to Abduction
Investigations revealed that Jake had pawned two vehicles to Glen for PHP 1.8 million three months prior. On May 11, 2026, when Jake attempted to redeem the vehicles by paying PHP 1.8 million plus PHP 150,000 in interest, he requested to transfer the pawn to another financier to settle the debt.
At that moment, the white van and Toyota Vios suddenly appeared, and the suspects forced both men into the vehicles, taking them to Naga City. However, Glen suspected Jake's involvement in the kidnapping and subsequently filed a complaint against him.
The Nissan Terra pawned by Jake is now in the custody of the CCPO.
