Basilan Governor Announces Ramadan Bonus for Employees

In a festive and spiritually significant event, Basilan Governor Mujiv Hataman presided over the switch-on ceremony of the Ramadan Mubarak lights on Monday evening, February 16, 2026. The ceremony, held at the Basilan Government Center (BGC) in Lamitan City, drew thousands of Basileños, including officials from the military, police, village councils, and the provincial government, creating a vibrant atmosphere of community unity.

Ramadan Bonus Announcement for Provincial Employees

During the ceremony, Governor Hataman made a major announcement that will benefit the workforce of Basilan. More than 1,300 regular, casual, and job-order employees of the provincial government are set to receive a P10,000 Ramadan bonus. This financial support is in addition to the early release of their salaries, which Hataman advised employees to spend wisely. The bonus is scheduled to be distributed two weeks after the salaries, providing a timely boost during the holy month.

Nightly Activities and Raffle Bonanza

To enhance the Ramadan celebrations, Governor Hataman also revealed that nightly activities, including a raffle bonanza, will be held at the BGC throughout the month of Ramadan, which commences on Wednesday, February 18. The raffle prizes are set to include essential and valuable items such as rice, cash, motorcycles, and other goods, adding an element of excitement and generosity to the observances.

Spiritual Reminders and Community Gathering

The event was not only about festivities but also spiritual reflection. Dr. Aboulkhair Tarason, the Grand Mufti of Basilan, addressed the crowd, reminding Basileños to welcome the holy month with a pure heart, forgiveness, and the fear of Allah (SWT). His words underscored the deeper meaning of Ramadan, emphasizing faith and community harmony.

The Ramadan Mubarak lights beautifully illuminated the capitol building and its surroundings at the BGC, symbolizing hope and unity. This visual spectacle, combined with the announcements and spiritual messages, made the ceremony a memorable start to Ramadan in Basilan, fostering a sense of togetherness and support among residents.
