The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) has stated that its operations are not being impacted by a significant shortage of fire trucks across the nation. According to Fire Superintendent Anthony Arroyo, the spokesperson for the BFP, the agency continues to fulfill its duties effectively despite the limited number of firefighting vehicles.
Optimizing Resources Amid Challenges
Arroyo emphasized that the BFP is making the most of its available equipment, ensuring that the shortage does not become an obstacle to their critical work. He detailed how personnel are strategically deploying resources to maintain response capabilities and public safety standards.
Root Cause Linked to Corruption Probe
Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla has acknowledged that issues with the delivery of fire trucks have arisen due to an ongoing investigation into alleged corruption within the agency. This probe has temporarily disrupted procurement processes, contributing to the current deficit in firefighting assets.
The BFP remains committed to its mission, with officials expressing confidence in their ability to adapt and serve communities without compromise. Further updates on the investigation and procurement efforts are expected as the situation develops.
