Nine Suspects and 12 Persons of Interest Identified in Cavite Hazing Death

Authorities have identified nine suspects and 12 persons of interest in the hazing-related death of a 19-year-old maritime transportation student in Cavite. In a press conference held at Camp Crame, Police Colonel Ariel Red provided detailed updates on the ongoing investigation into this tragic incident.

Details of the Hazing Incident

On March 1, the victim, identified as Kenneth Alcedo, was rushed to a hospital in Dasmariñas. Initially, it was reported that he was a victim of a hit-and-run accident. However, Police Colonel Red clarified that forensic examinations revealed a different story. "Allegedly, according to the person who brought him in, he was a victim of a hit-and-run. However, based on our examination and forensic results, he was a victim of hazing. Upon verification and through the vehicle they used, we were able to identify the driver," Red stated during the press conference.

Severe Injuries and Forensic Findings

The forensic results indicated that Alcedo died from severe blunt trauma to his lower extremities. The injuries were extensive and disturbing. "There was a crack in the jaw, bruises on the nape and back, and injuries on the nails… there were chili seeds and fruit in his private parts, and his thighs were swollen and bruised," Red added, highlighting the brutal nature of the hazing ritual.

Investigation Progress and Suspects

Of the 21 individuals involved in this case, nine are confirmed to have directly participated in the initiation rites. The driver of the vehicle that transported Alcedo to the hospital has already surrendered to the police. Manhunt operations are currently ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects. Authorities are committed to ensuring that all those responsible are brought to justice.

Legal Actions and Charges

Charges for violation of the Anti-Hazing Law will be filed against the suspects. This law is designed to prevent such tragedies and hold perpetrators accountable for their actions. The identification of both suspects and persons of interest marks a significant step forward in the investigation, aiming to provide closure for the victim's family and prevent future incidents.
