Norwegian National Found Deceased in Cebu City Hotel Room
A 44-year-old foreign national from Norway was discovered dead inside his rented room at a prominent hotel located on Salinas Drive in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City, at approximately 6:30 PM on April 4, 2026. The deceased has been identified as John Christian Hemmingsen, a resident of the Salten Police District in Norway.
Hotel Staff Alert Authorities
Front desk personnel at the hotel notified the Mabolo Police Station about the incident around 9:00 PM on the same date. Upon arrival, police officers found the foreign national lying on his bed with no signs of life. Hemmingsen was last seen alive on April 2, and it was noted that he typically spent time on the ground floor of the hotel daily.
Discovery of the Body
According to two room attendants, when they knocked on Hemmingsen's door accompanied by a security guard, there was no response. This prompted them to use a duplicate key to open the room, where they found Hemmingsen motionless on the bed. The body was subsequently transported to the Cebu Rolling Hills Funeral Home on A.S. Fortuna Street in Mandaue City for an autopsy, while authorities await the arrival of his family from abroad.
The investigation is ongoing as police work to determine the circumstances surrounding his death. This incident has raised concerns in the local community, highlighting the importance of safety protocols in hospitality establishments.
