In a significant blow to illegal drug operations in Western Visayas, police authorities in Batad, Iloilo apprehended two suspects and confiscated suspected shabu with an estimated street value of over P1 million during a carefully planned buy-bust operation.
The successful anti-drug operation unfolded on Tuesday evening along Rizal Street in Barangay Dilway, Batad. Law enforcement officials from the Batad Municipal Police Station conducted the sting after weeks of surveillance and intelligence gathering on the suspects' activities.
According to police reports, the two individuals arrested were identified as residents of the municipality. The suspects are now facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The seized evidence included approximately 150 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated standard drug price of P1,020,000. The dangerous substances were carefully weighed and documented following proper police protocols and chain of custody procedures.
Police officials emphasized that this operation demonstrates their continued commitment to combating the illegal drug trade in the region. "This successful operation reflects our determination to maintain peace and order in our communities," stated a police representative involved in the operation.
The suspects are currently detained at the Batad Municipal Police Station while appropriate charges are being prepared for filing with the Prosecutor's Office.
