Governor Pineda Calls for Unified Focus on Education and Health in Pampanga
In a recent consultative meeting held at the Kingsborough Convention Center, Governor Lilia "Nanay" Pineda of Pampanga issued a compelling appeal to the province's mayors. She urged them to place education, health, and the overall welfare of Kapampangans at the forefront of their governance priorities. This gathering, organized by the provincial government, aimed to strengthen coordination and tackle pressing concerns faced by local government units (LGUs) across the region.
Strengthening Local Governance Through Collaboration
The meeting served as a critical platform for local leaders to engage in discussions on policy issues, governance challenges, and strategies to enhance the delivery of public services. Governor Pineda highlighted the necessity of unity and cooperation among local officials to ensure that programs, particularly those related to education and healthcare, remain a top priority. She stressed that by working together, LGUs can more effectively address the needs of their communities and improve service efficiency.
Vice Governor Pineda Emphasizes Administrative Efficiency
Vice Governor Dennis "Delta" Pineda, who also participated in the meeting, reinforced this message by calling on mayors, vice mayors, and municipal council members to ensure that systems and documentation processes are properly organized. He emphasized that streamlined administrative procedures are essential to avoid delays in government transactions, thereby facilitating smoother operations and better resource allocation for public projects.
Key Issues Addressed During the Consultation
During the consultation, several critical issues affecting LGUs were thoroughly discussed. These included:
- The ownership of school properties under the Department of Education (DepEd), which impacts educational infrastructure and management.
- Business permitting and licensing processes, aimed at fostering economic growth and regulatory compliance.
- Solid waste management, addressing environmental concerns and public health.
- The implementation of Provincial Ordinance No. 878, focusing on local legislative measures.
Additionally, other matters raised encompassed the province's anti-drug campaign, the increasing number of animal bite cases, and the measures being undertaken to address these problems. These discussions underscored the multifaceted challenges that local governments face and the need for comprehensive solutions.
Broad Participation from Government Stakeholders
The meeting saw broad participation from various government stakeholders, including members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, Capitol department heads, local chief executives, municipal and city council members, and representatives from key agencies. These agencies included the Registry of Deeds, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Pampanga, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region III. Their involvement highlights the collaborative effort required to address local issues effectively and ensure that governance initiatives are aligned across different levels of government.
