Davao City's Parada Dabawenyo 2026: Over 3,500 Personnel Deployed for Security
Parada Dabawenyo 2026: 3,500 Personnel for Security

The Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO) in Davao City has confirmed the deployment of more than 3,500 integrated personnel to ensure the safety and security of the upcoming Parada Dabawenyo 2026. This major annual celebration, which includes both a daytime parade and an evening concert, is set to draw large crowds, prompting extensive preparations from local authorities.

Comprehensive Security Measures in Place

PSSO head Angel Sumagaysay stated during the ISpeak media forum on March 27, 2026, that the office is "101 percent ready" to manage the event. He emphasized that planners have finalized the strategic positioning of personnel to cover both the parade and the concert seamlessly. "We are prepared. The deployment is already organized. We will deploy around 3,500 integrated personnel, considering that aside from the parade, there is also a concert in the evening, so deployment will continue throughout," Sumagaysay explained.

Strict Drone Regulations to Mitigate Risks

In response to potential security threats, authorities will implement stringent regulations on drone usage during the event. Sumagaysay highlighted that only drones accredited by event organizers, the City Information Office, and security teams will be permitted. "Wherever we are, we regulate drones for security reasons. We will only allow those accredited by the event organizers, the City Information Office, and security teams," he said. This measure aims to prevent unauthorized aerial surveillance and other risks that could compromise public safety.

Advantages in Monitoring and Crowd Control

Sumagaysay also noted that walking contingents in the parade are easier to monitor compared to closed vehicles, providing security teams with an advantage in maintaining order. He added that no specific threats have been detected ahead of the event, reinforcing confidence in the preparedness of the PSSO. The integrated approach ensures that personnel are well-coordinated across different phases of the celebration, from the parade to the nighttime concert.

As Davao City gears up for Parada Dabawenyo 2026, the focus remains on delivering a secure and enjoyable experience for all attendees, with robust security protocols and proactive measures in place to address any challenges that may arise.
