In a significant crackdown on illegal narcotics, law enforcement officers in Iligan City have successfully arrested a high-value individual (HVI) and seized approximately P340,000 worth of suspected shabu. The suspect, identified by the alias Vin-Vin, is a 56-year-old resident of Tipanoy village in Iligan City. He was taken into custody during a carefully orchestrated buy-bust operation conducted on Tuesday, April 7, in Saray village, also within Iligan City. Authorities reported that the operation led to the confiscation of 50 grams of suspected shabu, which was packaged in seven heat-sealed plastic sachets of varying sizes. Additionally, a coin purse and P300 in marked money were recovered from the suspect, further substantiating the charges against him.
Suspect's Background and Legal Proceedings
According to police statements, Vin-Vin is classified as a second-time offender, having been previously released in 2003. His involvement in the illegal drug trade reportedly stemmed from financial difficulties, as he transitioned from working as a farmer to engaging in narcotics distribution due to insufficient income. The suspect is currently detained, with law enforcement preparing to file charges against him for violations under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, a stringent Philippine law aimed at curbing drug-related activities.
