The Municipality of San Fernando in Bukidnon celebrated its second anniversary as an insurgency-free municipality on May 28, 2026, at the Municipal Gymnasium, marking two years of sustained peace, security, and development.
Commemoration Event
Mayor Rogelio C. Yeke led the commemoration, joined by tribal leaders, former rebels, private sector representatives, community members, and security personnel. A key highlight was the signing of the peace covenant known as Pakigsaad among tribal leaders from San Fernando and neighboring municipalities of Talaingod, Kapalong, and Santo Tomas in Davao del Norte. This covenant underscores the collective commitment of Indigenous Peoples to preserve peace, strengthen cooperation, resolve conflicts through dialogue, and protect ancestral domains from threats.
Progress Since 2024
Since its declaration as insurgency-free in 2024, San Fernando has strengthened government services, community development programs, and peace-building initiatives. Brigadier General Christopher M. Diaz, representing Major General Alvin V. Luzon of the 10th Infantry Division, emphasized sustaining peace gains through collaboration. He urged the local government and residents to remain vigilant in protecting youth and Indigenous communities from insurgent influence, assuring continued Army support through the whole-of-nation approach.
Gratitude and Recognition
Mayor Yeke expressed gratitude to the Philippine Army and Philippine National Police for their contributions, paying tribute to fallen soldiers and law enforcement personnel. Also present were Brigadier General Eufracio Malig Jr., Lieutenant Colonel Antonio G. Bulao I, Lieutenant Colonel Jesus Rosete, and Police Colonel Oliver Navales.
