ARGÃO, Cebu - A man suspected of involvement in a shooting incident met his end during a police operation in Sitio Cagay, Barangay Talaga on Wednesday afternoon.
The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Ruel Bautista Lagrimas, was the subject of an arrest warrant for frustrated murder when police officers attempted to serve the warrant at approximately 4:30 PM.
According to police reports, Lagrimas allegedly resisted arrest and engaged the arresting officers, leading to a fatal confrontation. Authorities recovered a .38 caliber revolver with two spent shells and three live ammunition from the scene.
The operation was conducted by personnel from the Argao Police Station who were serving the warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 26 Judge Samuel Amila Malazzab.
Lagrimas was wanted in connection with a shooting incident that occurred last October 14, 2023, in Barangay Talaga. The case had been under investigation for several months before the warrant was issued.
Police have confirmed that the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene following the encounter. The incident marks another chapter in the ongoing efforts by Cebu law enforcement to address violent crimes in the province.
Investigators are continuing their probe into the circumstances surrounding the police operation and are appealing to witnesses who may have additional information to come forward.
