Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Edgardo "Sonny" Angara has been confirmed as the distinguished guest of honor for the upcoming 505th anniversary commemoration of the historic Victory at Mactan. The significant event is scheduled to take place on April 27, 2026, in Lapu-Lapu City.

The prestigious invitation was formally announced by Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Ma. Cynthia "Cindi" King Chan during the regular flag-raising ceremony at the city government headquarters on Monday, April 6, 2026. Changes to Traditional Celebrations
In her announcement, Mayor Chan also revealed that the traditional Sadsad sa Kadaugan (Victory Dance) will not proceed this year. This decision forms part of the city's ongoing efforts to conserve resources and optimize budgetary allocations for public events.
