Suspect Arrested in Zamboanga del Sur Family Killing

Police in Zamboanga del Sur have arrested the suspect in the killing of a health worker and her three children, authorities confirmed on July 2, 2026. The Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Office (ZDSPPO) identified the suspect as Frankie Camiguing, 27, a resident of Mahayag town.

Arrest Details

Camiguing was apprehended Thursday morning, July 2, in Panagaan village, Mahayag municipality, just four days after he surfaced there. The police noted that Camiguing also had a standing warrant of arrest for qualified theft issued in May 2025, which was served by the Mahayag Municipal Police Station on the same day.

Rosabel Camiguing, the suspect's mother, told reporters that Frankie arrived home around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1. She said he had been hiding in the forest after the incident. Police stated that the suspect fled on foot through human trails until he reached his home.

The Victims

The victims were identified as Arlene Dumalte, 42, a village health worker, and her three children: Nashyl, 16; En-En, 14; and Arnel, 11. They were found dead inside their home early Monday, June 29, in Litapan village, Josefina, Zamboanga del Sur. According to Rosabel, Frankie and Arlene had been live-in partners for two years, and jealousy was the motive for the killings.

Police determined that the murders occurred around 1 a.m. on Sunday, June 28. The bodies were discovered at approximately 6:45 a.m. on Monday, June 29, by Litapan Village Councilor Alejo Indangan, who was on his way to his farm. The suspect is now in the custody of the Josefina Municipal Police Station.
