Significant Crime Reduction Across the Region
From January to June 2024, the region recorded only 1,923 index crimes compared to 2,350 during the same period last year. This substantial drop represents a major victory for law enforcement efforts and community safety initiatives throughout Western Visayas.
Focus Crimes Show Dramatic Improvement
The most notable progress has been seen in focus crimes, which decreased by 18.52%. These eight focus crimes include:
- Murder
- Homicide
- Physical injury
- Rape
- Robbery
- Theft
- Vehicle theft
- Motorcycle theft

Police Brigadier General Jack Wanky, acting regional director of Police Regional Office 6, attributed this success to enhanced police visibility and intensified anti-criminality campaigns. Non-Index Crimes Also Decline
