Basketball Game Turns Tragic: Young Man Found Shot Dead in Carcar City
In a shocking incident, a young man was discovered lifeless after being shot in the right eye while playing basketball in Sityo Laray, Barangay Poblacion, Carcar City on Tuesday evening, April 7, 2026. The victim, estimated to be over 20 years old, remains unidentified by authorities as the investigation continues.
Details of the Victim and Scene
The victim was found wearing a violet and pink basketball jersey shorts, a white t-shirt, and carrying a backpack. Initial reports indicate that the shooting took place during a sudden blackout in the area, which prevented any witnesses from seeing the suspect. Residents only heard six consecutive gunshots, and upon the arrival of authorities, the victim was already lying in a pool of his own blood.
Police Investigation and Appeal
According to the Carcar Police investigation, the shooting occurred around 9:00 PM while the location was experiencing a power outage. Due to the darkness, no one observed the perpetrator, aside from the gunshots heard by locals. In addition to the fatal gunshot wound to the eye, the victim sustained injuries to various parts of his body, leading to his immediate death. To aid in identification, the victim has tattoos on his left arm and chest area.
The body is currently placed at the morgue of Carcar Provincial Hospital.
