Talisay City Mayor Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas Jr. has condemned a shooting threat made against two public schools, calling the online menace a serious violation that should not be taken as a joke. The threat prompted the suspension of classes at Talisay City Elementary School and Talisay City National High School on Monday, July 6, 2026.
Threat Originated from Anonymous Facebook Post
The threat came from a now-deleted Facebook post by a user named “Zane Bacalso,” who threatened to bring a weapon to school due to an alleged bullying incident involving a relative. Mayor Gullas, in a statement posted on his Facebook page on Sunday, July 5, said he directed the police to coordinate directly with the Department of Education (DepEd) Talisay City Division to conduct an investigation.
Class Suspension and Security Measures
The class suspension affected the two schools while authorities work to trace the source of the post. School principals Roreen Emily Salcedo (elementary) and Jeditho Dela Cuesta (high school) have implemented necessary security measures to ensure the safety and well-being of all students, teachers, and staff, according to the mayor.
