Filipino-American NBA star Jordan Clarkson proudly showcased his Filipino heritage during the New York Knicks championship parade in Manhattan after the team secured its first title in 53 years. In photos and videos from the celebration, Clarkson was seen wearing and wrapping himself in the Philippine flag alongside his teammates as thousands of fans cheered along the parade route.
Parade Details and Historic Win
The parade began at Bowling Green and ended at City Hall, passing through the iconic Canyon of Heroes. As part of the traditional ticker-tape parade, the team was showered with over 2,500 pounds of recycled confetti. The championship also marked a historic milestone for Clarkson, who became the first Filipino-American player to win an NBA championship after the Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs in five games in the NBA Finals.
Filipino-American Presence in Finals
The finals series also featured fellow Filipino-American Dylan Harper, who played for the Spurs. Clarkson has previously represented the Philippines in international competition as a member of Gilas Pilipinas, including the 2018 Asian Games and the 2023 FIBA World Cup.
