Ex-PBA guard Brian Heruela proved to be the most reliable point guard for the Cebu Greats as they continued their winning streak in the ongoing MPBL 2026 Season.

The Cebu Greats dominated the Zamboanga Sikat, 96-77, to post their fourth consecutive victory in the SportsPlus Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) 2026 Season at the Caloocan Sports Complex in Manila on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

Former PBA players and University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters products Dondon Hontiveros and Brian Heruela combined forces to help the Greats improve their record to 6-2.

The Greats were trailing 24-27 when Hontiveros erupted with two consecutive three-pointers to spark a 14-0 run, giving them a 38-27 lead with 3:06 remaining in the second quarter.

Ron Dennison and Jonathan Ralf Gesalem also contributed to the Greats' offensive surge, each nailing a three-point bomb during that stretch.

Key Performers

As usual, the Greats were led by Mark Meneses with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Wowie Escosio added 15 points, Paul Desiderio contributed 13 points, Simon Camacho chipped in 10 points, while Hontiveros added seven points.

Heruela only managed four points but was named SportsPlus Best Player of the Game due to his performance in other departments: he recorded 15 assists, seven rebounds, and two steals.

The Sikat, who suffered their fourth straight loss, dropping their record to 1-6, were led by Paeng Are with 21 points.
