Aboitiz Foundation and Innodata Forge Partnership to Empower Filipino Women Through AI Data Annotation Training

Aboitiz Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of the Aboitiz Group, has significantly enhanced digital employment pathways for Filipino women by partnering with Innodata Knowledge Services Inc. for its flagship program, Elevate Artificial Intelligence Data Annotation (AIDA). This collaboration aims to provide qualified graduates with AI-related work opportunities while ensuring training aligns with evolving industry standards.

Creating Sustainable Pathways from Learning to Earning

Under this new partnership, Innodata will engage Elevate AIDA graduates in real-world AI projects, bridging the gap between skill acquisition and practical application. Ginggay Hontiveros-Malvar, president of Aboitiz Foundation, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, "Innodata's support and engagement will significantly advance our shared goal of empowering women through digital upskilling and access to meaningful employment. This is about creating a clear and sustainable path from learning to earning."

Flexible Training Designed for Women's Lifestyles

Elevate AIDA equips women with essential data annotation skills, a foundational process that enables artificial intelligence systems to recognize images, understand language, and improve decision-making. These skills power everyday technologies such as online search, e-commerce platforms, and digital assistants.

The program is specifically designed for accessibility, combining live sessions with self-paced online modules. This flexible approach allows participants to balance training with household and community responsibilities, effectively removing barriers that often limit women's participation in the digital workforce.

Nationwide Expansion and Future Growth

With an ambitious goal of training 300,000 women nationwide, Elevate AIDA has already reached communities from Ifugao to Basilan, preparing participants for remote work opportunities. Connected Women, the program's implementing partner, continues to deliver training and support as women transition into the digital workforce.

Jemima Villa, country head of Innodata, highlighted the strategic importance of this collaboration, saying, "This partnership aligns with our commitment to inclusive growth while strengthening our talent pipeline in the AI space."

Looking ahead, Aboitiz Foundation plans to expand the program through AIDA+, which will introduce training in high-growth areas such as virtual assistance, data analysis, and digital content creation. This expansion aims to widen access while deepening collaboration with industry partners.

Building Inclusive Pathways to the Future of Work

By aligning skills development with concrete employment opportunities, this initiative demonstrates how strategic partnerships can create inclusive pathways to the future of work. The program not only empowers women with valuable digital skills but also enables them to contribute meaningfully to their families, communities, and the broader digital economy.

The Elevate AIDA program represents a significant step toward gender equality in the technology sector, providing Filipino women with the tools and opportunities needed to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
