Tripartite Partnership Launches Free AI Literacy Training for Filipino Workforce

In a significant move to bolster digital readiness, an online job portal has forged a tripartite partnership to support the rollout of free artificial intelligence (AI) literacy training and digital credentialing for Filipino workers. This initiative comes as businesses increasingly prioritize AI skills in their hiring processes, reflecting a broader shift toward technology-driven recruitment.

Addressing the Growing Demand for AI Competencies

Data from Jobstreet by Seek reveals that 72 percent of Philippine employers now consider AI knowledge when recruiting, with 36 percent viewing it as highly important. This trend underscores the rapid integration of AI tools across various industries and highlights the urgent need for workforce upskilling to meet evolving job requirements.

The company has identified three key constraints in building a future-ready labor force:

  • A mismatch between available skills and job requirements
  • Gaps in AI competencies among workers
  • Challenges in verifying credentials during the recruitment process

Partnership Details and Implementation

The tripartite agreement involves Jobstreet by Seek, SmartCT, and FilPass, and is part of the AI Ready ASEAN Program spearheaded by the ASEAN Foundation. This program aims to strengthen digital and AI literacy across Southeast Asia, with a focus on enhancing employability in the face of accelerating AI adoption.

Under the agreement, SmartCT will deliver comprehensive AI literacy training and curriculum to learners, while FilPass will issue digital certificates to program completers. These certificates are designed to provide verifiable proof of AI-related competencies, ensuring that workers can demonstrate their skills to potential employers.

Integration with Digital Career Passport System

Certified credentials may be linked to candidates’ profiles on Jobstreet by Seek’s platform through its digital career passport system. This integration allows employers to view verified qualifications during the hiring process, streamlining recruitment and reducing the risk of credential fraud.

Alignment with Government Initiatives

The Department of Education has noted that this agreement aligns with the government’s AI education efforts under Project Agap AI. This partnership forms part of broader regional and domestic initiatives to enhance digital readiness and improve employability as AI adoption accelerates across sectors.

By providing free AI training and credentialing, this collaboration aims to bridge the skills gap and empower Filipino workers to thrive in an increasingly AI-driven economy.
