MYEG and PPA Forge Partnership to Digitize Port Payments in the Philippines
MYEG Philippines, Inc. (MYEG PH) and the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) have officially solidified a strategic collaboration aimed at revolutionizing the digital payment landscape within the nation's port sector. This partnership centers on the integration of MYEG's Electronic Payment Collection System (EPCS) into the PPA's existing e-Payment Portal (EPP), marking a significant leap forward in modernizing maritime transactions.
Formalizing the Agreement
The alliance was formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement signed by key executives from both organizations. Representing MYEG Philippines were Ms. Ann Margaret Saldaña, Chief Executive Officer, and Mr. Reymart Coja, Business Development Manager. On behalf of the PPA, signatories included Mr. Jay Daniel Santiago, General Manager, and Mr. Mark Jon Palomar, Assistant General Manager for Operations. This ceremony underscores a shared commitment to enhancing operational efficiency through technological innovation.
Expanding Payment Accessibility
Currently, the PPA accepts payments via cashiers at port locations and through the government platform Land Bank of the Philippines' LinkBiz Portal, where it is registered as a sub-merchant. The new integration will dramatically broaden payment options by enabling users to access more than 100,000 payment channels across the country. These include:
- E-wallets such as GCash, ShopeePay, PalawanPay, Maya, and GrabPay.
- Credit and debit cards including Visa, Mastercard, and JCB.
- Online bank transfers through institutions like BDO, BPI, RCBC, and Maybank.
- Over-the-counter options at outlets such as 7-Eleven, Cebuana Lhuillier, Palawan Pawnshop, Bayad, SM Store, Robinsons Department Store, Tambunting Pawnshop, and RD Pawnshop.
Additionally, the system supports QRPh, allowing payments via banking apps from UnionBank, Metrobank, Chinabank, Security Bank, GoTyme, MariBank, AllBank, and other financial institutions.
Streamlining Port Transactions
The integration will facilitate the online settlement of various port-related fees, such as:
- PPA accreditation fees and Permit to Operate (PTO).
- Transport Accreditation and Vehicle Pass.
- Cargo Handling and Wharfage Fees.
- Passenger Terminal Fees and other service charges.
This system primarily serves a wide network of stakeholders in maritime trade, including:
- Shipping lines and terminal operators, who are frequent users for settling port charges and lease payments.
- Importers, exporters, and logistics firms, relying on platforms like ACTS, WebTrack, and the PPA e-Payment Portal for customs clearance and cargo release.
- Trucking companies, using it for gate access fees.
- Private port service providers, processing payments for leases and specialized services.
Benefits and Government Alignment
By digitizing these transactions, the partnership aims to:
- Reduce processing time and eliminate the need for physical visits to port cashier offices.
- Provide a more efficient payment experience for businesses in logistics and maritime sectors.
- Enhance accessibility, transparency, and efficiency in public service delivery.
This initiative aligns with the government's push to streamline processes and accelerate digital adoption across agencies. For the public and business community, it offers greater convenience and flexibility, supporting faster transaction processing, improved operational efficiency, and smoother logistics operations, ultimately fostering a more competitive trade environment in the Philippines.
