A live-in couple considered high-value targets landed in jail after being arrested in a buy-bust operation in Sitio Galaban, Barangay Poblacion, Borbon town on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 9:30 p.m.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 7 Director Joel Plaza identified the suspects as alias Mervin, 29, a farm handler; and alias Gladys, 32, a helper. Both are natives of Barangay Masaba, Danao City and are included in the Regional Target List of PDEA and the Philippine National Police (PNP).
The joint operation was launched by PDEA 7 personnel and members of the Borbon Municipal Police Station.
Seized from the suspects were five large plastic packages of suspected shabu weighing 25 grams with an estimated average market value of PHP 170,000.
Aside from the illegal drugs, operatives also recovered the buy-bust money and a motorcycle used by the suspects in selling and delivering the contraband.
According to Leia Alcantara, information officer of PDEA 7, the two suspects had been under case buildup and surveillance for over a year. Alcantara admitted they had difficulty pursuing them due to the suspects' habit of frequently moving residences.
Based on information gathered by PDEA 7, the couple was able to sell 25 to 50 grams of shabu per week to various customers in the province.
The suspects are currently detained at the PDEA 7 custodial facility in Sudlon, Barangay Lahug, Cebu City while formal charges are being prepared against them.
