CORTES, Bohol — Bohol International Learning College (BILC) has officially named one of its academic facilities the Dr. Proceso L. Orcullo Research Room, paying tribute to the longtime educator whose decades of service at Ateneo de Davao University and later contributions in Bohol reflected an unwavering dedication to academic excellence and community service.

Naming Ceremony Held During Wake

The naming ceremony took place during Dr. Orcullo’s wake in Tagbilaran City, drawing faculty members, administrators, students, and guests who gathered to honor his profound impact on the institution and the broader academic community.

A Life of Service and Scholarship

Dr. Orcullo studied at the University of the Philippines Diliman and Ateneo de Davao University, where he later taught until his retirement. He shaped generations of students in the Jesuit tradition, embodying the Ignatian value of being persons for others. He carried this commitment into his final years of service at BILC in Bohol.

Strengthening Social Work Education

Among Dr. Orcullo’s most notable achievements was strengthening the Bachelor of Science in Social Work program. Through his leadership, BILC became the only higher education institution in Tagbilaran City offering the BS Social Work degree. The program has since produced competent graduates, including a Social Work Licensure Examination placer, highlighting the quality of education at the college.

BILC President Ryvil Uy remarked that the naming of the research room reflects the institution’s deep appreciation for Dr. Orcullo’s contributions to its academic reputation and mission of forming competent, socially responsible professionals.
